Novant Health Medical Group is looking for a conscientious, compassionate Urology Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to provide inpatient care for urology patients in the acute setting in Winston-Salem, NC. This will include rounding on in-patients and seeing ED consults, perform minor bedside urologic procedures and potentially support the surgeon in the operating room as first assist. Our expert surgeons and APPs work collaboratively to provide outstanding quality to our operative and non-operative patients. Our Urology providers treat patients with a wide variety of urologic conditions. This APP will coordinate care and monitor patient progress through the course of their hospital stay and care transitions. Participate in daily interdisciplinary rounds, patient education, and discharge planning. The Urology Hospital APP may order, conduct, and interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory test, prescribe pharmacologic agents, treatments, and therapies. Experience in urology preferred. This role would be a great opportunity for a PA, Acute Care certified NP or a Primary Care FNP who has RNFA certification.
Our expert surgeons, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants work collaboratively to provide remarkable care to our operative and non-operative patients. The selected APP will be responsible for performing a variety of functions under the supervision of our physicians. These functions, though not all-inclusive, include seeing patients in the clinic setting, performing office procedures, surgical assisting in the operating room, and rounding at our acute facilities.
Winston-Salem has 2 minor league baseball teams (The Winston-Salem Dash, The Greensboro Grasshoppers) and a team in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, a partner of Major League Baseball, The High Point Rockers. We have college football (Wake Forest), several local wineries, and a large art community (theater, ballet). We are 2 hours north of Charlotte, 2 hours to the east of the North Carolina Mountains, Asheville is less than 2 hours to the Southwest and Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill are about 2 hours to the east where you can catch some good basketball and larger concerts. We are within 4 hours of the North Carolina beaches and less than 3 hours to Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia, a popular summer destination. We have an international airport in Greensboro and Charlotte.

Education: Master's Degree required. Either a graduate of an NCCPA accredited physician assistant program, or NP or post Master’s NP program required.
Experience: One year of experience in urology preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current PA or NP license in appropriate state required. NCCPA or registery with state nursing board, ACLS, DEA registry required. RNFA certification required for FNP's or ability to obtain by 12/31/2024.
Additional Skills Required: Ability to successfully complete generic and depart-specific skills validation and competency testing; Thorough knowledge of diagnosis, and pharmacology; Thorough skill in physical assessment and management of chronic illness; Communication skills, both verbal and written; general computer knowledge is preferred; ability to work independently, yet in collaboration when necessary. Ability to use problem-solving, decision making, creative and communication skills. Dedicated to patient rehabilitation and self-care.
